Piazza della Repubblica

Italy / Umbria / Orvieto /
 square, invisible

Piazza della Repubblica has always been the municipal heart of Orvieto and used to be the centre of religious life too before the Duomo was erected, thanks to the presence of the current Collegiate Church of Saint Andrew, possibly an Etruscan temple during the Villanovian age and a Paleo-Christian basilica and a bishopry from the sixth century onwards. Whichever access way to Orvieto you choose, whichever place you start your visit from, you will certainly not miss this indispensable and lively crossroads. www.inorvieto.it/en/visit/must_to_see/piazza_della_repu...
