The nature reserve of Monte Rufeno is a part of a network of parks and nature reserves in the Central italy. It stretches for about 3.000 hectares across hilly wood-lands to the North of the province of Viterbo and to the borders between: Latium, Tuscany and Umbria. The Monte Rufeno Reserve enjoys many forms of wildlife and birds. There are at least 40 species of orchids and other marvellous Mediterranean flora to be found in their natural environment. Nature lovers can follow the foot-paths which are signed with itineraries to help you fully appreciate the surroundings with explanations describing the natural characteristics of this territory, its history and the relationship between human activity and the environment. The signs also indicate the difficulty of each walk. The equestrian Centre of Monte Rufeno offers excursions on well-behaved horses.
