Palmer brick works operated from the 1970's and manufactured bricks from clay that was mined locally. The kilns was fired by coal mined close-by at the Palmer coal mine.

The operation was decommissioned (date needed) and now belongs to Limpopo government organization LIMDEV.
The plant has not been rehabilitated, scientific water studies prove that the plant leaches acid water, e-coli and iron into the water stream affecting local communities and farmers.
