Easternmost of a four island chain on the Umpqua River in Douglas County, Oregon. Located near the Umpqua's northern shore approximately five miles upriver from the Umpqua River Bridge, the island is the last of four tiny vegetated islands referred to by local kayakers as the Four H'S. Other island in the chain include: Haiden island, Hudson island, and Harbour island. The island group is accessible only by boat and is a good destination point for short kayak trips.

  • Fun little island. Lightly wooded with mostly willow and brushes. A few types of grasses. Evidence of beaver, coyote, and elk. A couple suitable campsite. The parking lot at the Dean's creek bridge is a so-so kayak launch site, under the bridge at lower tides.
