Hudson island

Largest of a four island chain on the Umpqua River in Douglas County, Oregon. Located near the Umpqua's northern shore approximately five miles upriver from the Umpqua River Bridge, the island is the second of four tiny vegetated islands referred to by local kayakers as the Four H'S. Other island in the chain include: Hudson island, Harbour island, and Henley island. The island group is accessible only by boat and is a good destination point for short kayak trips.

  • A day adventure in itself. Northside of island is extreamly mucky and cattailled. Center of island is densely vegatated and a machette is recommended for exploration. Sandy beach on west side of island permits walking access to haiden island. Largest of the four island chain.
