Chitnavis Trust : Art Gallery,Caff e and other buildings. Chitnavis Centre has become the favourite venue for those wanting to hold cultural or social events. On its own too, the centre has presented a host of art and music events exposing local audience to different genres and artists.1. To promote creative endeavour, cultural and performing arts, social entrepreneurship and environmental concerns. A place where debate and discussions would take place involving people from all walks of life. Our basic concept was to create a platform were things would happen. We want to initiate ideas, introduce people to various art forms, concepts and skills and open up vistas for the city.2.30 rooms and three suites which can be used for conference. We are looking to add an institute with classrooms, for the activities of our trust. The trust runs educational and social welfare projects for women and children. We need space to undertake activities pertaining to this. We have plans to add an amphitheatre and an auditorium for which we need big finances. A yoga and meditation centre is on the anvil too. 3.It is a big board in terms of range. Doctors are holding conferences here. Workshops and seminars are being organized. Classes for chartered accountants have been conducted, Rotary meetings, social events, press conferences, board meetings, and even government programmes have been held here. Theatre and musical performances have taken place. Property expos, exhibitions, promotional events, art shows it has all happened here in this short period.4.activities are gradually picking up. The membership drive is getting a good response. We have lofty visions for the centre which have to fall in place. But it's a good start. What we would like to have here is promotion of social entrepreneurship where people take up an enterprise which helps others too. We want to hold workshops to train people on this. 5.We try to present not just Hindustani classical but jazz and fusion too. We invite eminent artists to hold workshops. We want the local talent to use the space to get new ideas. Then there is a category of artists like Vyankatesh Kumar who are not very well known but when they perform here music lovers get to know them. We try to promote such artists too.6.We would like to have footpath gallery where artists can hold open air exhibitions, discussion and debates. I would like to have a digital library of music and films. Holding a literature festival too is on the agenda. Dedicated days to environment, and a heritage week are being worked out. Workshops for life skills like time management, confidence building, counselling for students too are on the cards.7.We have a cafe which is doing well. We try to ensure that people from all strata should be able to afford it. Another fine dining restaurant is also coming up. What we plan to have in future are special days for niche cuisines like say Vietnamese or Lebanese.
