Grand Central Plaza public open space area, with access from Third Avenue, 40th Street and 41st Street, completed in 1973. The plaza fronts the tower of Grand Central Plaza, and borders to 2-story restaurant at the corner, Zengo, which includes rooftop space. A pedestrian corridor leads from Third Avenue between the 2-story corner building and the separate building at the northeast corner back to the main plaza, with the tower rising behind it. The corridor entrance is framed by a metal gateway crowned with a round clock face bearing the address of 622 Third Avenue, and "GRAND CENTRAL PLAZA" along the top edge of the clock. Planters boxes line both sides of the walkway. The plaza itself features several low planter boxes intersected by low, curving silver walls, with seating in the center area.
