apartment building, commercial building
5-story residential building completed in 1924. Designed by Emery Roth as an office building, its 3-bay facade clad in grey-tan brick above tall ground-floor storefronts. The storefront on the left is clad in red brick, with an entrance on the right and large, retractable window on the left, topped by wood paneling. The narrower right section has a smaller storefront and main building entrance, both topped by grey brick.
The original 2nd-floor windows have been replaced with newer commercial windows - large, square single-panes in the south two bays, and a tripartite window with transom in the north bay. Each is topped by a steep, black canvas awning. The upper floors have tripartite windows in the middle bay and paired windows in the end bays. At the 4th-5th floors the tripartite window panes are framed by narrow, 2-story brick pilasters rising from a small stone balcony at the 4th floor (with four brackets and a low iron railing), and culminate in round-arches above the windows on the top floor, all three grouped under a larger arch. A band course runs to the sides of the arch, with rows of metopes, above the end-bay windows. The facade is topped by a brick roof parapet, stepped up and peaked in the center, with a decorative dentiled molding.
The building contains 16 apartment units. The ground floor is occupied by Dos Toros restaurant, and the entrance to Brick Crossfit gym, located on the 2nd floor.
