7-story early-modern office building originally completed in 1950 as a 3-story building. Designed for the Children's Aid Society by Gibbons, Heidtmann & Salvador, who did several buildings for the charity, it was officially known as the Lord Memorial Building. It was enlarged to its present size in 1963-65. The front facade has bands of windows in aluminum frames, divided into three bays. Grey brick spandrels divide the windows bands of the different floors. The ground floor is clad in beige granite above red granite, with windows at the top, and stainless-steel piers. The entrance is at the west end.

The east elevation is clad in red brick, with the upper floors in a slightly lighter shade than the original three. The upper floors of the west elevation are also clad in red brick. The building was sold by the Children's Aid Society in 2019 to Habib American Bank to use as their headquarters, with the Aid Society moving to a location in Harlem.

  • I have a photo of it from a cafe opposite in 1996 - but not sure what cafe it would have been? All I know is that we had coffee in cups saying "Le Cafe" on them and they had pictures of Eggplants on the wall - would anyone know of such a cafe? I'm labelling old photos and would like to be exact! :D
