Park Lane Centre (later Mall) was situated on 44 acres, 1.2 miles south of the center city. The single-level, open-air venue -built in three stages- encompassed 448,700 leasable square fee and fifty stores and services. Its first operational tenant, a 2-level (130,000 square foot) Sears, opened for business in September 1965. The 3-level (157,000 square foot) Sacramento-based Weinstock's began business in late 1967. At the time of its opening, Park Lane Centre was considered on the 'outskirts' of town.

Reno Town/ Old Town Mall (1 mile south) was completed in 1973, and Meadowood Mall (2 miles south) came inline in 1979. Both malls being indoors and climate controlled, Park Lane kept up the trend and was fully-enclosed and climate-controlled between 1977-1978.

The mall closed January 31, 2007 and the wrecking ball began to swing that October.

All that is now left is a large footprint of the original mall and the parking lot.
