Turlock High School
1574 East Canal Drive
Turlock, CA

This building hold numerous classrooms, administration offices for the Turlock School District and an auditorium used by the city.

The two original structures of "Old Turlock High School" (the second being the field house/girls gym to the immediate south) are very different looking buildings designed by William H. Weeks and built within a few years of each other. They are sited on a large landscaped parcel.

The more impressive structure is the combination auditorium and classroom facility, faced with tan brick and designed with elements of the Spanish Colonial and Romanesque Revival styles.

The gymnasium also has elements of the Spanish Colonial Revival but is a much more-modest building, faced with stucco and having many fewer decorative elements. The auditorium has seen almost no changes to the main facades whereas the gymnasium's integrity has been compromised to a moderate degree by the addition of seismic reinforcing members.

The auditorium was damaged by fire in 1979 and remained closed until 1999 when it reopened after fourteen years of fund raising and restoration by the citizens of Turlock. Today, the auditorium is home to the Turlock Community Theater.
