The Chatham House (Village of Chatham, New York)

USA / New York / Chatham / Village of Chatham, New York
 1850s construction, historical building

Built in 1859 as the Windsor Hotel to cater to the large number of railroad passengers connecting through Chatham on one of the five different railroad lines that crossed in the town, the Chatham House operated as a hotel for nearly a century until the decline of the passenger railroads brought an end to its days housing travellers. Operating as a department store and warehouse with an attached bar/pub through the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s, the building was purchased by a new owner at the end of the 20th century.

Extensively restored both inside and out, the Chatham House is once again operating as a bar and restaurant, with several shops and offices now occupying its upper floors.
