Official Designation of the The Project is " Khandala D - 04141" . Locally this is also known as " Khandala Talav" or " Khandala Lake" . Khandala Project was constructed as part of irrigation projects by the Government of Maharashtra in the year 1983 . Nearest city to dam is Mehkar and the Dam is situated in Mehkar Taluka of Buldana District of Maharashtra . Khandala Project is built on and impounds a Local nallah. The Dam is an Earth-fill Gravity Dam . Purpose of the Project is for irrigation . Length of the Dam is 495 m ( 1624.02 Feet ) . while the height of the dam above lowest foundation is 14.6 m ( 47.90 Feet ) . Detailed information about project spillway is not available .
