The house, originally built in the 16th century, modified in the 18th century, was bought around 1875 by the Jikely family, adding the second floor and the current decoration of the facade.
In 1875 Josef Jikeli opens a china and glassware store which will work here until the Second World War.
The City Beautification Association (Verschönerungsverein der stadt Hermannstadt) had its headquarters here starting with 1882. Friedrich Jickeli was president. Subsequently, the headquarters moved to 2, Mitropoliei Street.
