The Armour House was designed by Arthur Heun from 1904-1908 at a cost of $10 million by J. Ogden Armour (heir to the Armour Meat Packing fortune). It was purchased by Lake Forest Academy in 1947 and is now on the National Register of Historic Places. The former formal gardens at the estate have been featured in in many movies, best viewed in the Gene Hackman Movie "The Package". The home is available to be rented out for weddings and occasions.

  • I was a camp Counselor here for the Summer Camp Program. It was a real experience, especially when I found out that my grandfather had been a chauffeur for the Armour family.
