ORP used for Victor and Valiant aircraft stationed at Wyton during the Cold War. At the height of the Cold War, aircraft would be parked here, fueled and bombed up with crews sitting in them. This is so aircraft would be on standby to quickly respond in a nuclear retaliation role in the event of a nuclear attack on Europe.
