RAF Somersham was a top secret RAF airfield used by the SOE and the RAF for training of Lysander Pilots from nearby RAF Tempsford..
It was used to simulate a typical landing ground in German occupied France for RAF Pilots and for SOE agents to practise selecting marking out suitable landing sites.
