 parking garage  Add category

7-story parking garage completed in 1999. It extends through the block with entrances on both 43rd & 44th Streets. The facades are clad in dark-red brick; both have similar designs but the south facade is slightly wider. They are both organized into five bays, with the center bay the widest and the end bays the narrowest. Each has a thin, projecting concrete sill, numerous window panes divided by black metal framing, and broad concrete lintels with keystones. The thin piers between bays are banded with beige concrete. The ground floor of the north facade on 44th Street has one wide opening in the center, topped by a large concrete lintel with splayed keystones, and thin banding at the ends; the western end has a service entrance. A vertical sign is affixed to the pier inside of the easternmost bay, with "PARK" in red neon, and a red arrow running down the sign and pointing into toward the entrance. The facade is topped by a brick roof parapet with concrete coping, stepped up toward the center.

On the south facade on 43rd Street, the vertical sign is mounted directly west of the center bay, and the ground floor has two vehicle entrances, the western one about twice as wide as the eastern one. These entrances also have stainless-steel lintels below the concrete lintels. There is also a service door at the west end. The garage has a capacity of 425 cars.
