abandoned / shut down, power station, coal-fired
Former 322.5-megawatt (MW) coal-fired powerplant, operational from 1955-2019 under various owners but last owned by AES. As part of a statewide drawdown of fossil-fuel powered generation stations, the Cayuga plant was slated for deactivation and received its last coal shipment by train in February of 2019. The station used its last onsite fuel on August 29, 2019 and went officially offline in October 2019.
As of 2021 the plant property is slated for redevelopment as a solar energy farm and 250MW data center.
