Erected in 1926 by the Knights of Columbus, the Millet Cross commemorates the Mass of Thanksgiving conducted by Father Pierre Millet, a French Jesuit priest following the Winter of 1687-88. The mass was conducted with the 12 survivors of forts' original 100-man garrison who had made it through the harsh Winter that laid waste to the men through disease, starvation and cold.
