This mansion on Lake Wolfgangsee was built in 1912 by Edward VIII, Duke of Windsor. Thus fulfilled his dream of an english country house in the Austrian Salzkammergut. The parklike garden with British lawn and the ivy entwined facades protect his guests of looks from the outside. To date, the "Appesbach" remains virtually unchanged since the time of its construction and is home to a luxury 4-star hotel and gourmet restaurant.
