Vadakangulam is an upcoming and prosperous village in the Tirunelveli District of Tamil Nadu. The village is centered around the Holy Family church, famous in the surrounding villages.There are numerous other churches in the village. Other churches of interest are St.Antonys church, St.George church, Annai Velankanni Church,etc.
At the entrance to Vadavai, you have the welcoming warmth of the Mounamadam church and the shades of the banyan trees. There is a certain hunger for education among the people here, as is evident from the fact that there are numerous schools - 7 to be precise. Of these there are 4 Higher secondary schools(3 tamil medium and 1 English medium), 2 primary schools and 1 middle school. There is also a Tailoring school located within the church premises and managed by the church. Also there are numerous colleges for higher studies,dental, engineering, arts, pharmacy, business school, technical schools, all managed privately.
Most of the people of Vadavai are based abroad, that too in the last few years around the flourishing oil and gas industry. Other areas of work include software, printing, etc in small percentages. Indeed the concentration of Vadavai people in oil and gas has come as a blessing. First sight at Vadavai, and it is hard to accept that this is a village. Such is the development of the place.

  • I feel that you can also specify some detail about the Temples and Mosques in Vadakankulam.
  • There is no mosque in Vadakangulam, and as far as I know it, there is no Muslim population here.
  • All are fraud … do not believe anybody in this villages especially from south part of the village (Middle Street). The south part people is very good for making duplicate certificates ,, DO NOT SHOW YOUR CERTIFICATE THESE GUYS immediate they will make a duplicate it & use.
