trailhead, interesting place
Recently upgraded track up to Shirt Tail Bluff. Gives good views over the lake, Kingston and South towards Garston across farm flats and the Kingston flyer railway line.
First section is along a series of switchbacks with the last section, after a small creek crossing being more strenuous.
The track climbs through the distintive native bush of the area, with shrubs of varous size, cabbage trees, lancewoods and larger trees too. Fantails and occasional wood pigeons can be seen.
A worthwhile walk if you're passing through the area.
30-60 mins round trip. Water available on the way up.
If visiting this area please do not litter, and use the toilets in the town!
