The inn was built in ca 1884-1885 by George Bryant. It was known as Bryant House until 1888 when it was purchased by Captain Thomas Fraser and renamed The Banning. In 1920, it was sold by Mrs. Fraser to John Livacich. Livacich updated and renovated the original inn building (renaming it the San Gorgonio Inn) and built small bungalows around it. These bungalows were later destroyed in a fire. It later became a popular restaurant and was well-known for its cheap food and Googie signage before closing its doors in 2006.

  • Instead of capitalizing on the history of the San Gorgonio Inn, the City of Banning has decided to turn the site of the beloved inn/restaurant into over 70,000 square feet of mixed use garbage. Great job!
