The Lake Merritt Hotel was built in 1927 in the Mediterranean Art Deco style and was designed by William Weeks. The building offers a restaurant called the The Terrace Room over looking Lake Merritt that is often used for special events. The Terrace Room has a mural depicting Lake Merritt painted by Andre Boratko. The building was saved from redevelopment in 1987.
