Size It is and will remain a small elementary school of no more than about 400 students, which greatly increases our ability to implement programs.

School Year It is one of the first truly year-round schools in Indiana, offering a 200-day academic schedule for students, along with an expanded daily schedule.

Community-based It has a strong and community-oriented board and a parental advisory board that helps operate the school according to the school's mission and vision.

Curriculum The ICS employs textbooks from Scott Foresman and Prentice-Hall, along with technological curricula from Pearson Digital Learning (Success Maker and Knowledge Box) and Plato Learning. These research-based tools allow the school to hone in on the individual needs of its students.

Assessment Along with the state-mandated ISTEP test, ICS students are tested with the Northwest Evaluation Association's MAP test, a computerized standardized tests that gives instantaneous results and tracks students' progress over time on a continuum.
