place with historical importance, 1959_construction, historic house, Frank Lloyd Wright (architect)

Luis Marden (1913-2003), explorer, photographer, and National Geographic writer, lived a life that could have been the inspiration for "The Most Fascinating Man in the World." When he and his wife Ethel decided to settle down, not just any house, at any location, would do. They picked a scenic spot on the Little Falls of the Potomac River, and had Frank Lloyd Wright design it. It took seven years to come together, but they finally moved in in 1959.
When the home was sold by the Mardens in 2000, it was purchased by Jim Kimsey, AOL co-founder, who had recently built a large home next door, at address 409. After an extensive and meticulous restoration, Marden House now acts as a guest home for the Kimsey residence.
