111-foot, 10-story Beaux-Arts hotel completed in 1916. Designed by Emery Roth as an apartment building, it was later converted to offices, and was converted to a hotel in 1998. It is clad in brown brick, with light courts on each of the four facades. The ground floor is blue-painted cast-iron and glass, with paneled piers around the storefront on either side. The central entrance has glass and black metal doors, with a rounded glass canopy covering the entry atrium back to the recessed wall of the light court, and a slightly-lower, rounded awning extending out over the sidewalk.
The mirror image wings have bays of tripartite windows with black metal mullion at the inner edge, followed by a bay of narrow single-windows, another bay of tripartite windows, and an outer bay of narrow single-windows. At the 2nd floor, the single-windows are of regular size, instead of the smaller ones on the upper floors. From the 3rd floor up, the three inner bays on both wings are framed by projecting brick piers. The east-facing sidewall of the light court has a bay of single-windows at the front, and two smaller windows at the rear. The west-facing sidewall has only one bay of smaller windows at the rear, along with the bay of single-windows at the front. The back wall has two bays of tripartite windows with black metal mullions.
A projecting, white terra-cotta band course runs above the 2nd floor, ornamented with laurels, an egg-and-dart molding, and at the piers, heraldic shields flanked by torches that extend up to a second, thinner band course. The upper band course crosses the entire south facade, while the larger, lower one is absent from the rear wall of the light court. Another thick-thin band course pairing (also with shields, but with a different pattern) runs above the 4th floor. There is a brick and stone string course above the 8th floor, broken by the piers. At the 9th floor the small windows are oval shaped, and there is a projecting terra-cotta cornice marking the setback to the penthouse level.
The hotel has 155 guest rooms and suites. The ground floor is occupied by The Wheeltapper Pub, Reamir & Co. barber shop, and Macchiato Espresso Bar.
