Mr. Bubu Marchena created a staircase with sledgehammer and chisel in the hot sun at Malmok beach in 1978. He said he constructed the staircase on the cliff to make it easier to enter and exit the water for his family and visitors. Due to erosion, he had to recreate in 2009 as it had completely disappeared.

Mr. Bubu was asked if the bay there has a name; he said no, it is simply called Malmok. So it was decided to call it ‘Boca Bubu’ – Bubu’s Bay.
