Ormidale Block (Vancouver)

Canada / British Columbia / Vancouver / West Hastings Street, 151
 office building, 1900_construction, 1900s construction

Built in 1900 by architect George W. Grant, 151 Hastings Street was originally the offices of several wholesale importers and it was known as the "Ormidale Block" after the first owner, R.W. Ormidale.

This 4-storey commercial building is designed in the Richardsonian Romanesque style. It was fashioned after the Marshall Field's Department store in Chicago, which Henry Hobson Richardson designed and built between 1885 to 1887.

In May 2012, the building was sold by Colliers Int'l to Century Group for $6.5 million.
