Although the original Hancock Field is gone, these buildings are the original hangars and support buildings that were once located on the north side of the field. A few of the buildings once located here were moved to what is now Santa Maria Airport. These hangars and other Aeronautics College buildings located at what is now Hancock College appeared in 1957's Spirit of St. Louis starring Jimmy Stewart. Many of the aviation scenes prior to the flight to Paris were filmed here.
