Piteå museum is situated in the former Town hall by the beautiful 17th century square. When the town in 1667 was moved from what is now Öjebyn to the present location, the square was designed according to the prevailing ideas of city planning of that century. The square is made up by the meeting of two central streets and in all corners are houses. The square still maintains the same structure and is unique in Sweden.
