Nordanå is an area where culture and nature meet. A large part of Skellefteå's cultural life can be found here. The area's main building houses the Skellefteå Museum with its thematic exhibits as well as its central exhibits. You'll also find the Museum Anna Nordlander here, which focuses on contemporary art and gender issues, as well as the Skellefteå Konsthall art gallery with its visiting exhibits and a permanent exhibit with the works of Skellefteå artist Sture Meijer. In Nordanå's shop, you can buy design items, crafts and artwork for big and small. The area is enclosed by Nordanå Park, with its playground, ponds and a number of historic buildings. The area is also home to the Nordanågårdens Värdshus tavern and Majorsbostället Nyborg, a quaint country store with a café. Handens Hus is an absolute must if you're interested in handicrafts.
