Built originally in Clarks Hill, SC in 1829. In 1930 it was relocated and renovated by William Roy Wallace for Mrs. Hugh Gwyn Chatham (Martha Lenoir Thurmond), Ellen Biddle Shipman oversaw the landscaping. Subsequently occupied by Margaret Thurmond Kavanaugh and most recently Ralph Philip Hanes Jr. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. Donated by the Hanes family to Wake Forest University in 2011.
