Former site of Rengstorff's Landing, one of many landings that were once scattered throughout the South Bay's tidal marshes. Lumber, produce, and grains were exported from the South Bay from this and other landings via scow schooner. Like other landings, it quickly lost its importance as a transportation hub with the coming of the railroad in the 1870s. The former landing still appears in aerial photos as late as 1956.
