This nearly 800 acre regional park was built on the site of a landfill operated by the City of Mountain View from 1968 until the 1980s, when the City began the process of realizing a c. 1958 plan to turn the area into a wildlife and recreation area. The park today features a 50 acre sailing lake and boathouse, an 18-hole golf course and clubhouse, two tidal marshes, two sloughs and creeks, extensive meadows and Mountain View's oldest home, the c. 1868 Rengstorff House.
