East Carter Middle School is located in Grayson, a city in northeastern Kentucky. The middle school houses students in grades 6, 7, and 8. Enrollment stands at approximately 680 students for the 2006-2007 school year. In addition, ECMS employs 53 instructors, and 27 support staff.

The construction of ECMS was completed in early 1991, and the school opened its doors in the fall of that year. The school's design has won several architectural awards.

The school colors are red, white, and blue, and the "Raider" is the mascot. Mrs. Shannon Wilburn is the principal, and Mr. Gary Salyer is the Assistant Principal. Mrs. Sally Berry is the school secretary.
