The forest department has embarked upon cleaning Debjharan, which is famous for its waterfall, to restore the scenic beauty of the tourism hot spot.According to official sources, the place currently sees a footfall of more than 30,000 tourists annually. The waterfall, which is about 45-metre high, keeps the periphery area cool during the day in summer when more tourists come here. The site is close to Jujumara, which in the past had witnessed Maoist violence. Gradually, the influence of the Left extremists waned encouraging people to go there. We have plans to train the VSS members in hospitality. Toilets and drinking water facilities will be available at the facility soon, said an officer, adding that after the area is developed into an eco-tourism site, tourist footfall will increase by another 20,000.
