Grasslands Farm is an important property of 510 acres located in the heart of the famed Orange County Hunt in northern Fauquier County near the charming destination village of Middleburg, Virginia. The farm is situated at 2540 Zulla Road, The Plains, Virginia 20198 just south of the town. Its entrance is a very long tree lined driveway which takes one on
a scenic journey past the pond, through the fabled weeping cherry trees and to the main
house. The backdrop for this breathtaking drive is the beautiful Blue Ridge, the mountains
to the west.
Since the mid 1820’s the historic brick manor house of Grasslands has presided over this
stunning parcel of rolling countryside cradled between the Blue Ridge to the west and the Bull Run Mountains to the east.
In the 1920’s it was owned by Charles Cary Rumsey and Mary Harriman Rumsey, daughter
of E. H. Harriman.
