The Dead Sea (Aramaic ܝܡܐ ܕܡܠܚܐ ܐܘ ܝܡܐ ܩܕܡܝܐ) is the Earths lowest point not covered by ice, at 418 m (1371 feet) below sea level and falling and the deepest hypersaline lake in the world, at 330 m (1083 feet) deep. It is the third saltiest body of water on Earth, with a salinity of about 30 percent. Only Lake Asal and Don Juan Pond in Antarctica has a higher salinity. This is about 8.6 times greater than average ocean salinity. It measures 67 km (42 miles) long, 18 km (11 miles) wide at its widest point and lies in the Jordan Rift Valley. The main tributary is the Jordan River.

Mineral composition of the dead sea include MgO, Al2O3, CaO, SiO2, Na2O, RsLd, K2O, TiO2, SO3, SO4, and P2O5.

  • oh its real a nice place i visit it its cool!
  • Nice place The water is very salty No fish or any creature live in this sea except some microscopic creature because of it's salty The water is warm too , I love this place
  • Jordan is considering building a canal from the Gulf of Aquaba towards the Dead Sea. At s ome point there will be a de-salting plant to produce fresh water. The waste water containing many different salts will flow on down towards the Sea. power generated by the fall of water from world sea level down 418 meters to the Dead Sea will help power the process.
