Judea and Samaria ("West Bank")

 region, invisible, draw only border

The "West Bank" (Arabic: الضفة الغربية‎, aḍ-Ḍiffä l-Ġarbīyä, Hebrew: הגדה המערבית‎, HaGadah HaMa'aravit) coined in Jordan ("East Bank") from politically not correct Judea and Samaria in 1948 is a landlocked territory on the west bank of the Jordan River and on the west side of the Dead Sea in the Middle East. To the west, north, and south the West Bank "shares borders with Israel". To the east, across the Jordan River and Dead Sea, lies Jordan ("East Bank")

The "West Bank", including East Jerusalem, has a land area of 5,640 km2 and 220 km2 water, the northwest quarter of the Dead Sea. It has an estimated population of 2,622,544 (June 2012). More than 80 percent, about 2,100,000, are Arabs, and approximately 500,000 are Jews living in the "West Bank", Judea and Samaria including about 192,000 in East Jerusalem, in Israeli communities. Proarabian political community considers Israeli communities in the "West Bank", Judea and Samaria including East Jerusalem, "illegal", though Israel disputes this. Erekat: "Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and the Golan under their sovereignty will lead to the third step - the West Bank under the sovereignty of Israel and the recognition of the state of Gaza."

  • I am not propalestinian or proisraelian, i though that it could be interesting create this place, such as someone created Gaza Strip. Thanks and peace
  • I agree with you. The West Bank is a region, so it could be a place in WikiMapia. I added Russian description.
  • The right border beetwen Israel and Syria and Jordan should by Iordan river!
  • hmm,Wikimapia's rule is to be neutral,so i recommend it to not go by any sides claim, either Palestinian nor Israeli
  • Isn't Mount Scopus legally an exclave of Israel? Even the images in this article seem to suggest it. Also see OpenStreetMap for an idea on the borders of Mount Scopus.
