  • "Kalappurackal" is an ancient Syro Malabar Catholic family from Moovattupuzha. Their parental family is Edamana Illam of Arakuzha. They are a branch of one Bhramin family imigrated from North Paravur. One Savithri Antharjanam of the illam embraced christianity in the 1st centuary. The parental family of Edamana Illam is "Pozhikkinedath Illam" Kalappurackal family has its roots in Arakkuzha which is a small village located six kilometers south of Moovattupuzha. Mathew Muthappan and Mariam Muthi (Kalathimuthi) are their forefathers. The family is maintaining kudumba charithram since AD 600. 1st edition was printed by Late.Rev.Fr.Souriar Pulpparambil and latest by Rev.Fr.Jose Kalappurackal.As per record total number of members in the family till 2002 is 45271. Rev.Dr.Chacko Thottumarickal, Indore Bishop is from this family. The very old Edamanakurisu & Edamanappalli at Arakuzha was erected around 600 A.D by this family. Padiola relating to the above has been found in Arakuzha church
