Haripur Upazila (Thakurgaon district) with an area of 201.06 sq km, is bounded by West Bengal of India and Ranisankail upazila on the north, West Bengal of India on the south, Ranisankail upazila on the east, West Bengal of India on the west. Main rivers are Nagar Kulik. Gargariah Beel is notable.
Haripur town is located at 25.8275893N 88.1303354E. Haripur (Town) consists of two mouzas. It has an area of 4.11 sq km. The town has a population of 4879; male 52.06%, female 47.94%; population density per sq km 1187. Literacy rate among the town people is 29.4%. The town has two dakbungalows.
Haripur Thana was established in 1914 and was turned into an upazila in 1983. The upazila consists of 6 union parishads, 70 mouzas and 70 villages.
Archaeological heritage and relics: Bhaturiar Garh, Bir Garh, Bhabanipur Garh, Zamindar Bari at Haripur, tomb of Shah Makhdum Jalal (R) at Baharampur.
As of the 1991 Bangladesh census, Population 101658; male 50.93%, female 49.07%; Muslim 89.36%, Hindu 10.26% and others 0.38%; ethnic nationals: Santal 103 families.
