Joseph Medwick Park

Medwick Park , an 82 acre park in West Carteret named after the baseball hall of famer Joseph Michael 'Ducky' Medwick,

The park originally featured 2 baseball fields, a hockey rink, an open soccer field and 2 playgrounds, along with about a mile long walking path along the edge on the Raritan River

The park was renovated in 2010 - 2012, after it was discovered during the wetland restoration project that the park contained contaminated soil from its previous industrial uses.

In mid 2012 the park was re-opened and now only includes 1 baseball field a football field and a multi use soccer/baseball AstroTurf field.

The Site was used between 1936 and 1967 as the location of the WOR radio station for it 50,000 watt transmitter.
