Nagarpur Upazila (Tangail district) with an area of 266.77 sq km, is bounded by Tangail sadar and Delduar upazilas on the north, Daulatpur upazila (Manikganj) on the south, Mirzapur, Dhamrai and Saturia upazilas on the east, Chauhali and Daulatpur upazilas on the west. Main rivers are jamuna, dhaleshwari, Old Dhaleshwari, Lohajang and Noai.

The geographic coordinates of Nagarpur town are 24.0558437N 89.8757631E degree. Nagarpur (Town) has an area of 4.68 sq km. The town has a population of 10043; male 51.25%, female 48.75%; density of population is 2146 per sq km.

The Nagarpur thana, now an upazila, was established in 1906. The upazila consists of 12 union parishads, 266 mouzas and 229 villages.
