This small 1960s housing area essentially consisted of 2 rows of single storey shops along Jalan 20/13 and a few hundred single storey terraced houses along Jalan 20/15, Jalan 20/17, Jalan 20/19, Jalan SS20/22 and Jalan SS20/24. By the 1990s, the name Petaling Barat has been mostly forgotten and most residents assume being in Section 20, that they are simply part of the larger Taman Pamamount (Paramount Gardens)development.
