Constructed in 1906, the monastery is the home of the Poor Clare Colettines order of nuns. The medieval order founded by St. Clare of Assisi, a follower of St. Francis of Assisi, was established in Cleveland in 1877. The nuns take a vow of poverty and live a cloistered existence devoted to the perpetual adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. They live simply and dress in a traditional grey and brown tunic, linen headpiece and veil.
