Purwakarta, is a district in the province of West Java, Indonesia is ± 80 km east of Jakarta. The district borders Karawang regency in the western and northern parts of Subang regency in the north and parts of the East, in the southern part of Bandung regency, and Cianjur regency in the Southwest.
Purwakarta located at the intersection of three major traffic corridors are very strategic, namely Purwakarta-Jakarta, Purwakarta - Bandung and Purwakarta-Cirebon.
The total area is 971.72 km² Purwakarta, or approximately 2.81% of the area of West Java province has a population of 845 509 inhabitants (Projected population in 2009) with the population growth rate by an average of 2.28% per year. The number of the male population is 420 380 inhabitants, while the female population is 425 129 inhabitants.
Purwakarta has a motto Wibawa Karta Raharja. "Wibawa" means the authority or dignity, "Karta" means crowded or alive, and 'Raharja' means prosperous state. So the "Wibawa Karta Raharja" can be interpreted as a respectable area / authoritative, lively / life, as well as the affluent or wealthy .
