Due to leverage the wind, which now blew from the northwest, and priority to meet the lighthouse Capão da Marca abortion intended to explore the north side of Ponta do Bojuru. Continuing like this would come at noon in the Capão da Marca, just as the wind should have decreased. And hopefully the wind begin to blow from the east quadrant, leaving the windward coast, facilitating approximation. And so it went. 12h we approach the lighthouse. There is much wanted to meet him, but it was never possible. Or was it windy, or already burned on time. There is a shelter to anchor there. And many sandbanks. The wind grew weaker, but still blowing NO. We lift keel and rudder and engine approach, the Ademir already on the bow in hand with the danforth. The echo has already denounced the large amount of alfaques parallel to the coast. The echo sounder marked 2m, then 1.2, then came back to score more water. And waves ... the leeward coast .... When aproei scored 0.8 m to the pond and asked to play Ademir iron. Unhado leave the boat comes to shore by the wind, just dropping the cable. And shook the poor. Arranged to be an anchor in the boat while the other was going to visit the lighthouse. I went down with water on the knee, grabbed his camera and started to get along the coast. Soon enough water in the documents, then the navel, raised his arms, wet up to his chest ... Had a more alfaque ... No problem, it was the second day without even bathroom.
Lighthouse Capão da Marca
This lighthouse all in iron, in full activity, was inaugurated by the Emperor Dom Pedro II in 1849. But what makes a lighthouse at the bottom of a bay? He explained Captain Ferrugem, who came from the north, heading south, already clear ahead of Christopher Pereira, demanded the Capão da Marca enough to escape from the sandbar Dona Maria, west, when he could play towards the spotlight Bojuru. And vice versa.
And what was my luck to get close and see the door open! Good news and bad. Why was he open? There were no signs of forced entry. It is known the problem of the current signaling virtual abandonment of the pond. And one reason for the lack of lighting in many buoys is theft ... I climbed. Spiral staircase, also of iron, very well preserved. Upstairs all the material on time. Probably was working well. And what a beautiful sight!. Deserted beach everywhere. The immensity of the pond. My rich boat jumping down there ... Alright. Films and photographs back to yield Ademir.
Not long ago there was a lighthouse keeper's house, who lived here with his family. Neco Moeller sent these pictures when he was here there around 1968, with the Guanabara Flamingo III. Message he sent:
"The house pictured here was very nice, great. The lighthouse keeper and family service was done by a truck coming from the sea by Tavares dunas. The truck came from 40 in 40 days!! An interesting detail is that access to the house was by a narrow corridor to enter the front door. The lighthouse keeper was sloppy and threw cans and bottles through the windows and there was no condition to walk around the house!! It was full of broken glass. I do not know if it was a trap to prevent access of strangers, people or animals. We did not get to ask the same. In the photo, hit me, some family members.”
