A commercial and essentially office space development centred about the former Bute Place junction lock & dock, which used to connect the former Bute Docks part of the old Cardiff docklands to the Roath Dock part here to the south. This development was therefore built on land released by Associated British Ports who inherited the former Cardiff Docks Company portfolio of property.
It and the buildings within it are named after Captain Scott, the famous British Antarctic explorer, who originally embarked for the first leg of his fateful last expedition of discovery to the South Pole from Cardiff and various aspects of his expedition - Terra Nova (the name of his ship) Ross (the Antarctic Island where he first made landfall)etc.
